The Rongai Route is an ascending route with the option of using four or five stations depending on the climber’s preference. Visitors who ascend via this route will descend through the Marangu route. The four-station option includes Simba Camp, a Second cave, a Third cave, and a School hut. The five-station options include Simba Camp, Second Cave, Kikelelwa, Mawenzi Tarn Hut, and School Hut. This is the only route that approaches the summit from the north, near the Tanzania-Kenya border, offering a more remote and less crowded experience.
